My idea for what I can do in a single weekend changed drastically after I moved to Utah. Instead of sitting around, going out to eat, or just watching the game, I look to fill that time exploring the west. There are some crazy places out this way, some of which I never imagined would be right in my backyard. Hiking, camping, and road trips are now just a regular part of life.
Adventurer
As you can hopefully tell by the pictures on the site, I indeed have a passion for photography. I got my first camera just after finishing up my graduate program and learned everything I know from YouTube. After another camera, many lenses, and much more gear that I don’t need, I find myself moving further and further into a new life that I love. Ironically, I am at the point now where taking photos isn’t something I couldn’t live without anymore. Instead, photography remains the key driver in pushing me to see more of the world and more importantly to connect with the wonderful people I get to meet on this journey. While I may not be involved with the sport anymore, it would be impossible to skip over the impact that volleyball has had on my life. I grew up playing and got into coaching as a sophomore in high school. I ended up coaching nearly ten years, working my way up to the Women’s Division I collegiate level. I spent four years there before deciding to hang it up in order to pursue a different life, what would ultimately become this one I now have in Utah. Volleyball, and the people I got to work with and for, taught me an incredible amount about leadership and life. Those lessons, and more importantly those relationships, have made me who I am today.
Former Volleyball Coach
Don’t get me wrong, I learned plenty throughout my years of schooling. But I would be lying if I said that was the most important part of my education. I took it upon myself to dive deeper into the things that I was most interested in. This took the form of filling up my personal library and reading nearly anything I could get my hands on. Philosophy, politics, history, science, sports, leadership, literature, psychology, you name it. Picking up this habit has had one of the biggest impacts on my life and something I’m passionate about sharing with others. Be sure to check out my library here on the site!
Life Long Learner
It’s safe to say I dabble in many other things as well. I taught myself to play both guitar and piano in college. I used to be somewhat proficient in card tricks. Woodworking became my new hobby during the wonderful of year of 2020. I’m also an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying a good hike, weekend out camping, and exploring the beautiful natural world we live in. I am blessed to somehow be able to pick things up pretty easily and am grateful to have found so many interesting hobbies to throw myself into.
